François Legault was elected so that Quebec would stand. Less Ottawa, less naivety, more pride. On paper, that was our sentence. In practice the CAQ has often been press-release nationalism and an administration of fiascos.
I belong to no party. I belong to the real.
SAAQclic
The “digital shift” at the automobile insurance board. Promised as modernisation. Delivered as humiliation: a site down, queues, overruns, ministers discovering the invoice after the fact. In 2025 Legault himself wrote the word fiasco and ordered a public inquiry. When the premier names his own disaster, it is no longer the opposition speaking. It is the record.
The third link
Years of brandishing it. An entire south shore believing in it. Then the burial. A people can forgive a refusal. It does not easily forgive being sold a bridge to win an election.
Northvolt
Public billions for a battery plant, totem of the “transition”. The company founders. Quebec is left with a hole, a bill, and the same green speech. Socialise the losses, privatise the press releases.
Santé Québec
A mega-structure was stacked on a network already at the end of its rope. Emergency rooms do not need a new acronym. They need beds, nurses, and a government that stops believing the org chart heals.
The tap they did not close
The CAQ had a clear mandate on immigration. It talked about permanent thresholds. It let temporary residents explode — students, workers, claimants. They are the ones who change a country school, a public-housing block, a waiting room. Promising control and delivering overflow is a surer betrayal than an honest federalist.
Espaces bleus, studies, waste
Ghost culture houses. Aborted programmes. Millions in consultants. Meanwhile Carillon falls into waste and classrooms lack teachers. A nationalist government that neglects memory is nationalist only on 24 June.
What remains to demand
Not another messiah-party. A Quebec that actually legislates: borders, language, school, hospital, speech. The CAQ showed the limit of provincialism: you can talk nation and remain a regional office of Ottawa.
The flag on the lectern is no longer enough. We need the country.
Let us bring back common sense.
