We were told Antifa did not exist. “It is not an organisation, it is an idea.” Ideas do not strike with hammers. Ideas do not write “I am antifa” before setting fire to a detention centre. Ideas do not receive an executive order from the White House.

What states have finally put in writing

On 22 September 2025, Washington designated Antifa a domestic terrorist organisation. The order describes a militarist, anarchist enterprise that calls for the overthrow of the state, the police and the law.

In November 2025 the State Department listed four European arms as Foreign Terrorist Organizations: Antifa Ost (Germany), the Informal Anarchist Federation (Italy), Armed Proletarian Justice and Revolutionary Class Self-Defense (Greece).

Hungary had already listed Antifa Ost after the Budapest attacks of February 2023. Orbán asked the European Union to do the same. Europe is still arguing about vocabulary.

Canada has listed nothing. Here the black mask remains a parade accessory.

The dead and the blows

29 August 2020, Portland. Michael Forest Reinoehl, who described himself as Antifa, shot Aaron “Jay” Danielson in the street. CSIS logged the attack in its terrorism database — the first fatal far-left attack in the United States in more than twenty years. Attorney General Barr named the killer: “admitted Antifa member”. Reinoehl was killed by marshals during his arrest.

13 July 2019, Tacoma. Willem van Spronsen, an anarchist, left a text: “I am antifa.” He threw incendiary devices at an ICE centre, aimed at a propane tank, pointed a rifle. Police shot him. Nobody else died. That was not thanks to the doctrine. It was thanks to a tank that failed.

2018–2023, Germany and Budapest. Antifa Ost, the “hammer gang”. Attempted murders. One man received at least fifteen blows, mostly to the head. In November 2025 seven defendants stood trial in Dresden. Washington cited those facts for the terrorist listing.

In Seattle, in the summer of 2020, the “autonomous zone” held by the far left — CHOP / CHAZ — saw two teenagers killed: Horace Lorenzo Anderson Jr., 19, and Antonio Mays Jr., 16. The police had been driven out. The bullets had not left the perimeter.

The method

Hood. Hammer. Cocktail. Doxxing. A ban on journalists, conservatives, women who refuse the gender dogma. Portland burned for more than a hundred nights. Churches, courthouses, bookshops. Then the same newsrooms wrote “mostly peaceful protests”.

Antifa is not the opposite of fascism. It is the armed wing of wokeism when the word is no longer enough. Wokeism lectures. Antifa brings the club.

A free Quebec would name them. A Quebec under trusteeship still holds the campus door and the parade route open.

A militia one refuses to name has already won the first battle: the dictionary.

Let us bring back common sense.
